Born on January 16, 1922, in Mitchell, IN, he was the daughter of Robert B. and Edna (Clouse) Wood. He married Rosa Nell Chastain on May 16, 1941, and she died on February 3, 2004. Surviving are one daughter, Charlene Stromatt of Norman, IN; two sons, Roy W. Wood of Orleans, IN, and Carey D. Wood of Mitchell, IN; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, one grandchild, four brothers, and one sister. He retired from Central Foundry in 1980 and was an Army veteran of WW II. He was a member of the Mitchell Nazarene Church and the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250. Services for Chester Wood will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 3rd, at Haverly Mortuary with Pastor Alan Reed officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. until the service time Friday at Haverly Mortuary.
