    • I have Rhoda E. Burgess (middle name unknown), born 26 Apr. 1869 in Orange Co., IN, the daughter of John E. Burgess and Elizabeth A. Black. John E. was the son of Dawson Burgess (1811?-1870?) of Orange Co., VA, the son of Mason Peyton Burgess (1776-1845) of Orange Co., VA, the son of Edward Burgess Jr. (1739-1819) of Fauquier Co., VA, the son of Edward Burgess Sr. (1699?-1759) of King George Co., VA, the son of William Burgess (1670?-1712) of Richmond (later King George) Co., VA. Rhoda married Leander M. Roberts on 9 Sept. 1886 in Orange Co., and died there on 14 Apr. 1916. I have three of her Roberts children written into the master copy of my book as updates: John R. (born 8 Jul. 1888), Clyde B. (born 5 Jan. 1890, died 17 Dec. 1949), and Roy G. (born 20 Jul. 1892, died May 1972 in TX), but know nothing else about her family. Copies of the 700-page The House of the Burgesses, which details 25,000 descendants of William Burgess, are available for $60 postpaid from Millefleurs, P.O. Box 2845, San Bernardino, CA 92406. I estimate that about 2%-3% of the Burgesses in the United States are related to this line (perhaps one out of forty).
