  Wood - Harold Z. Wood, formerly of Mitchell, IN, died Thursday, September 30, 1999, at Westview Nursing and Rehab Center in Bedford. Born on May 28, 1920, in Mitchell, IN, he was the son of Robert and Edna M. (Clouse) Wood, Sr. He married Lela Chastain on February 16, 1940, and she survives. Also surviving are one son, Ronald Wood of Detroit, MI; one daughter, Brenda Dorsett of Bloomington, IN; two brothers, Chester and Robert Wood, Jr., both of Mitchell, IN; one sister, Betty Speck of Mitchell, IN; four grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Lowell, and Glenn Wood; one sister, Mildred Baker; and one grandchild. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Hall Brothers in Orleans and Jefferson Trucking in Shoals. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he served in the European Theater. He was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ, Senior Citizens, Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250, and served on the board of Hoosier Uplands. Services for Harold Wood will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 3rd, at the Mitchell Church of Christ with Bro. Allen Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Mitchell Cemetery with graveside military rites accorded by members of the Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post No. 250 and Marvin R. Davis Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, Mitchell. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Sunday at Haverly Mortuary, and from 1 pm. until the service time Sunday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Mitchell Church of Christ.
