    • Wood - Rosa Nell Wood of Mitchell, IN, died Tuesday, February 3, 2004, at Select Specialty Hospital in Bloomington, IN. Born on April 20, 1923, in Lawrence County, IN, she was the daughter of Benjamin Franklin and Martha Elizabeth (Price) Chastain. She married Chester Wood on May 16, 1941, and he survives.

      Surviving with her husband are two sons, Roy W. Wood of Orleans and Carey D. Wood of Mitchell, IN; one daughter, Charlene Stromatt of Norman, IN; two sisters, Lela Wood of Bedford, IN, and Mary Slaughter of Orleans, IN; seven grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by six brothers, one sister, and one grandchild.

      She was retired from the former Travler's Corporation in Orleans and was a member of the Church of Christ in Mitchell.

      Services for Rosa Wood will be at 11 a.m. Friday, February 6th, at Haverly Mortuary with the Rev. Michael Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and from 8 a.m. until the service time Friday at Haverly Mortuary.
