      Lela Wood, 89, Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Bedford, and formerly of Mitchell, died at 10:43 a.m. Wednesday at Westview.

      Born Oct. 5, 1920, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Benjamin F. and Martha Elizabeth (Price) Chastain. She married Harold Wood on Feb. 16, 1940, and he preceded her in death.

      She was a homemaker and had worked at Trav-Ler Company in Orleans. She was a member of the Mitchell Church of Christ.

      Survivors include one son, Ronald Wood and wife Peggy of Terre Haute; a daughter, Brenda Dorsett and husband John of Bloomington; four grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

      She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Blanche Ingram, Mary Slaughter, and Rosa Nell Wood; four brothers, Benjamin Franklin, Herman, Herschel, and Carl Chastain; and one grandchild, Kim Dorsett.

      Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Ferguson-Lee Haverly Chapel in Mitchell. Burial wi
